  • Why does Alta require parking reservations Friday–Sunday & holidays?
    Turning away cars on busy Friday–Sunday & holidays should not be part of a day of skiing. Alta Parking's goal is to help guarantee that skiers with a parking reservation will have a place to park. This should ease early morning traffic congestion resulting from limited parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis and allow us to better manage the amount of skiers on the mountain during peak periods.
  • My parking reservation is from 8am–1pm. Do I need to leave Alta by 1pm?
    No. To secure your parking spot you must arrive to Alta before 1pm. You are welcome to stay as long as you would like on that day.
  • What parking benefits do I receive as an Alta or Alta-Bird season passholder?
    Qualifying Alta and Alta-Bird passholders are eligible for free parking reservations Qualifying Alta passholders will receive code(s) that can be used to book free parking reservations Reservation codes may be reused once the active reservation date has passed Qualifying Alta passes: Family Package, Adult, 65+, 80+, 18-25, Military, Mid-Week, Gold Card, Powder Card & 10-Day Card. Qualifying Alta-Bird passes: Family Package, Adult, 65+, 18-25 & Military.
  • What parking benefits do I receive as an Alta lift ticket purchaser?
    As an Alta lift ticket purchaser you will receive a parking code for a $10 discount off your parking reservation.
  • If I am an Ikon or Mountain Collective passholder do I need to make a parking reservation?
    Yes, you will need to purchase a $25 parking reservation for Friday–Sunday & holidays from 8am–1pm. Reservations are not required Monday through Thursday (excluding holiday periods).
  • What do I do if my parking code is not working?
    If your parking code is not working, please contact us through the contact form or email us at altaparking@interstateparking.com.
  • Can I cancel my parking reservation?
    Yes, cancellations made by 8am the day of your parking reservation are eligible for refund.
  • What happens if I make a parking reservation and no-show?
    Failure to cancel free Alta season passholder reservations may result in pausing future passholder reservation benefits. Please note that if you are ill or have an emergency, email altaparking@interstateparking.com so that you do not need to drive up the canyon. We understand that life happens and we are more than willing to work with you in most unplanned situations.
  • Are parking reservations refundable if impacted by a weather event?
    If Hwy 210 closes due to weather, you will not be penalized for a no-show. Please contact us at altaparking@interstateparking.com
  • What if I am driving a rental vehicle and don’t have my plate information yet?
    When using a rental vehicle, please set up your account using RENTAL as the plate while completing the reservation. Once you have obtained your rental vehicle, you can log back into your account and update the vehicle information (please complete this update prior to entering Little Cottonwood Canyon so the system can update.   • How do I contact someone from Alta Parking and how soon will I hear back?
    Please visit our Contact page to reach us. We look forward to hearing from you. Alta Parking will return calls and emails in one to two business days.
  • If I receive a violation, how much does it cost?
    Violations are $75. If your violation is not paid within 10 days, it will double to $150. You may pay online on the Violations page.
  • How do I dispute a violation?
    You can dispute your violation on the Violations page.
  • Does Alta Parking share private information about users?
    Alta Parking does not share any information collected.
  • Are parking reservations required every day?
    No, reservations are only required Friday–Sunday and Holiday Periods from 8am–1pm: Reservations begin Friday, December 13th, 2024 Holiday Periods: December 20th through January 5th, January 20th & February 17th Reservations end Sunday, April 6th, 2025 Reservations will be required on Closing Day
  • How much does a parking reservation cost?
    Reservations are available for $25 per day. Purchasers of Alta.com lift tickets are eligible to book parking reservations for $10 per day. Qualifying Alta and Alta-Bird passholders are eligible for FREE parking reservations: Qualifying Alta passholders will receive parking code(s) that can be used to book free parking reservations. Parking codes may be reused once the active reservation date has passed. Qualifying Alta passes: Family Package, Adult, 65+, 80+, 18-25, Military, Mid-Week, Gold Card, Powder Card & 10-Day Card. Qualifying Alta-Bird passes: Family Package, Adult, 65+, 18-25 & Military. Parking reservations are verified by your license plate.
  • When can I start booking Friday–Sunday & holidays paid parking reservations?
    Make your parking reservation online for the 2024-25 winter coming soon. Reservations are required beginning December 13th.
  • If I am using a reservation today when can I book my next reservation?
    You can make parking reservations online for multiple days, anytime, 24/7 (start date TBD). All parking reservations are subject to availability.
  • Can I cancel my reservation?
    Yes, cancellations made by 8am the day of your parking reservation are eligible for refund.
  • As a passholder, can I purchase additional parking reservations?
    Yes. In addition to your parking reservations, Alta passholders can purchase additional Friday–Sunday & holiday reservations for $25 per day.
  • What if I am driving a rental vehicle and don’t have my plate information yet?
    When you make your reservation, use “RENTAL” for your license plate number. When you receive your rental car, log into your account and change your license plate number to the same as your rental car. You may also print and display your reservation on your dashboard to avoid a violation.
  • Am I allowed to park overnight?
    Overnight parking is NOT allowed in Little Cottonwood Canyon, with the exception of designated registered lodge guests and employee parking zones. If you are staying in Alta, it is not necessary to have a car. Most lodges and condominiums are slopeside or provide transportation.
  • If I am skiing the backcountry on Friday–Sunday & holidays do I need a parking reservation?
    Yes, a $25 parking reservation fee applies to the Grizzly, Flagstaff (South Side), Wildcat and Albion lots on Friday–Sunday & holidays from 8am–1pm. Consider carpooling or riding the UTA Ski Bus.
  • Does my parking reservation guarantee a specific spot?
    No, your parking reservation will allow you to park in any of the designated lots, it does not guarantee a specific parking spot or parking in a specific lot. Click here for the Alta Parking Map.
  • If I am staying at a lodge at Alta will I need a parking reservation?
    Yes. Please work directly with your ski lodge or lodging property and they will advise.
  • How are parking reservations verified once I have parked?
    Reservations are verified by your license plate. It's that simple. There are no physical kiosks or booths to slow the flow of traffic in the canyon or at Alta.
  • Do I need a parking reservation if my child is enrolled in a multi-week ski school program, such as AYC?
    Yes. Contact the ski school office at 801.799.2271 to purchase a parking permit valid for the dates of your child's program.
  • Do I need a paid parking reservation if I have a lesson with ski school booked?
    Yes. You’ll need to secure your parking reservation before booking your private lesson on weekends & holidays. If you are not able to make a parking reservation, please call the ski school office at 801.799.2271.
  • I have an ADA/Disabled license plate or placard. Do I need to make a parking reservation?
    Yes, parking reservations are required on weekends and holidays. Alta's Parking Ambassadors will make every effort to provide our best available parking to those individuals with ADA plates or placards.
  • How do I update my license plate?
    CLICK HERE for a step-by-step guide to update your license plate or follow the steps below. 1. Login to your account at reserve.altaparking.com 2. Select ‘Manage Your Parking’ 3. Select the relevant ‘Active Session’ requiring a license plate change 4. Select ‘Change Plate’ 5. Select ‘Register Vehicle’ 6. Select ‘Add New Vehicle’ 7. On the ‘Add Vehicle’ screen: a. Update your license plate b. Add a nickname for the new plate c. Select ‘Add Vehicle’ 8. Confirm the license plate information is correct and select ‘Yes, registerthis vehicle’ 9. Your updated license plate is registered, no further steps required.

  • How do I add a credit or debit card for payment?
    You may add credit or debit card payment on the 'Checkout' page. STEP 1. Click 'Select Payment Method'. STEP 2. To add a new credit or debit card, click '+ New Credit Card'. STEP 3. Click 'Credit or Debit'. STEP 4. Enter your card information. STEP 5. Click 'ADD CARD'.
  • How do I update a credit or debit card for I've previously saved?
    To update a credit or debit card, follow the steps above to add credit or debit card for payment.
  • How do I update or change my profile?
    STEP 1. Login to your account. STEP 2. Once logged in, select the profile icon. STEP 3. Select profile. STEP 4. Update your profile and click 'Save'. STEP 5. Your changes have been saved.
  • How do I cancel a reservation?
    Cancellations made by 8am the day of your parking reservation are eligible for refund. STEP 1. Login to your account. STEP 2. Once logged in, select the profile icon. STEP 3. Select 'Manage your Parking'. STEP 4. Select your parking reservation under 'Active Sessions'. STEP 5. Select 'Cancel Reservation'. STEP 6. Your reservation has been cancelled.
  • How do I add my parking reservation code(s)?
    STEP 1. Login to your account. STEP 2. Select 'Redeem Parking Code'. STEP 3. Enter your parking code and click 'Submit'. Your unique parking code was sent to you via email. STEP 4. Your parking code has been added. You may now select your parking code to reserve parking or enter another parking code.
  • How do I cancel a reservation?
    Cancellations made by 8am the day of your parking reservation are eligible for refund. STEP 1. Login to your account. STEP 2. Once logged in, select the profile icon. STEP 3. Select 'Manage your Parking'. STEP 4. Select your parking reservation under 'Active Sessions'. STEP 5. Select 'Cancel Reservation'. STEP 6. Your reservation has been cancelled.
  • If I need to cancel a reservation, how soon until I can make another one?
    Within 15 minutes.
  • As an Alta season passholder, what happens if I don't cancel my free parking reservation?
