Alta parking reservations & HIGHWAY 210 Info.

Returning for another winter, parking reservations will be required at Alta every Friday–Sunday & Holiday Periods from 8am–1pm. Much like a snow report or weather conditions, it is highly recommended to check the Parking and Road status before leaving the house.

Parking reservations will open in mid-October for this season and begin December 11th and end April 4th—reservations will also be required on Closing Day, April 25th.

Alta parking reservations for winter 2026–27

Our parking reservation system provides Alta skiers the peace of mind that there will be a parking space before driving up Little Cottonwood Canyon. Reservations have eased early morning traffic congestion resulting from limited parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

These reservations help us manage the ski experience by limiting the number of skiers to available terrain and lift capacity.​ 

HOW TO MAKE A PARKING RESERVATION Step-By-Step.

This step-by-step tutorial will walk you through the parking reservation process. Qualifying Alta and Alta-Bird season passholders and lift ticket purchasers will receive special access keys for parking via email. All other skiers, including Ikon and Mountain Collective passholders, can purchase a $25 parking reservation without an access key.

WHEN ARE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED?​

  • Friday–Sunday & holidays from 8am–1pm. Parking is not permitted in Alta lots from midnight to 8 am.

  • Reservations begin Friday, December 11th.

  • Holiday Periods: December 18th through January 3rd, January 18th & February 15th.

  • Reservations end Sunday, April 4th.

  • Reservations will be required on Closing Day April 25th from 8am–1pm.

  • Looking for early morning parking in the Town of Alta before 8am? 6am early morning parking reservations are available daily.

  • Parking reservations can be made online at anytime during the ski season.

  • As a friendly reminder, your reserved parking spot is valid for the remainder of the day. Enjoy your afternoon of skiing!

WHEN ARE Reservations NOT REQUIRED?

  • First-Come, First-Serve Parking:

    • Monday through Thursday after 8am—excluding holiday periods

    • Opening day through December 10th

    • Any day after 1pm.

    • April 5th through April 24th

How Do Paid Parking Reservations Work?

  • Parking Reservations can be purchased online.

  • Reservations will be available for $25 per day.

    • Lift tickets purchased online are eligible for a discounted parking reservation rate of $10.

  • Qualifying Alta and Alta-Bird passholders are eligible for free parking reservations—based on availability.​

  • All parking reservations are subject to availability.

  • Parking reservations are verified by your license plate and are scanned while you are parked.

  • Initial violations are $250 with a $125 discount if paid within 10 days.

  • Alta will release additional parking each Sunday at 3pm (MST) for the following weekend or holiday period.

  • During the ski season, additional parking reservations are released every Sunday at 3pm (MST)—set a reminder.

  • Can't find a parking reservation? Check back—cancellations open parking spots daily.

WHAT PARKING BENEFITS DO I RECEIVE AS AN ALTA LIFT TICKET PURCHASER?

  • Lift tickets purchased online are eligible for a discounted parking reservation rate of $10.

  • Please note, discounted passes do not qualify for discounts on parking reservations.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • A maximum of four (4) active—free and paid—reservations per account at any time.

  • If available, same-day reservations can be made and don't count towards your limit of four.

  • Failure to cancel free Alta season passholder reservations may result in pausing future passholder reservation benefits. Please note that if you are ill or have an emergency, email altaparking@interstateparking.com so that you do not need to drive up the canyon. We understand that life happens and we are more than willing to work with you in most unplanned situations.

  • Missed a parking reservation? Your first no-show is a warning. After that, a $100 fee applies for each no-show

  • The fee for parking without a reservation will be $150.

Little Cottonwood Canyon Road status

State law requires you to have snow tires on your vehicle or carry chains in your vehicle between November 1st and May 1st. At times the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) may restrict travel on the canyon road, State Highway 210, to snow tires, chains, 4 wheel drive only. Dial 511 on a cell phone to get current Utah Road Conditions information.

Use these parking tips to help you navigate Alta's parking reservation system.

  • Parking reservations will open in mid-October for the 2026–27 season.

    • The fall release represents a partial release of reservations—the majority of reservations are released during the season.

  • During the ski season, additional parking reservations are released every Sunday at 3pm (MST)—set a reminder.

  • Can't find a parking reservation? Check back—cancellations open parking spots daily.

  • Did your skiing plans change? Please cancel your parking reservation before 8am the day of your reservation—canceling your reservation allows another car to park and enjoy a day of skiing. Your first no-show will result in a warning. After that, a $100 fee applies for each no-show.

  • If you were unable to secure a parking reservation, it doesn't mean that you can't ski Alta. You can ride the UTA Ski Bus, carpool with a friend or park after 1pm.

STEP 1. Visit Alta Parking Reserve 'N Ski and click 'Get started'.​

STEP 2A. Click 'Sign In' if you have an existing account, or 'Create Account'.

STEP 2B. Enter your details, create a password, and click 'Create Account'.​

STEP 3. After signing in or creating an account, click 'Select' to start making a parking reservation.

STEP 4. Select your date, then click 'Next'.​

STEP 5A. For skiers with special access keys for parking only—such as Alta Season Passholders or lift ticket purchasers. Click 'Add it here'.

 

Guests without a special access key can proceed to STEP 6A.

STEP 5B. Enter your access key, then click 'Add'.​

STEP 6A. Select the reservation you wish to make and click 'Purchase'. Once a special access key is applied, associated reservations will be listed within the same reservation option list.

 

If you do not have a special access key, click 'Purchase' for a $25 parking reservation.

STEP 6B. The Priority Reservation illustrates the parking rate unlocked by a special access key.

The Daytime Parking Reservation illustrates the standard $25 paid parking rate.

STEP 7. Choose your vehicle and click 'Continue'.

​

PLEASE NOTE: ‘Add Plate Later’ will automatically send an email 24 hours prior to your reservation start time, prompting you to add your license plate/rental license plate number. Please ensure your license plate is correct by 8am of your reservation date to avoid a parking violation.

STEP 8. Review the cart and click 'Checkout'. Reservations are held in the cart for 10 minutes.

PRO TIP: Alta does not use promo or validation codes. Do not try to populate this field—it will not accept any codes.

STEP 9. Enter payment details and click 'Confirm Reservation'.

 

PLEASE NOTE: All reservations, even reservations made with an access key, must enter payment details and agree to the no-show fee statement.

STEP 10. Your checkout is now complete and parking reservation confirmed! Click to 'View Receipt' or 'Return to Purchase Menu' to make another parking reservation.

UPDATE YOUR LICENSE PLATE OR CANCEL A RESERVATION - step-by-step

STEP 1. Visit Alta Parking Reserve 'N Ski and click the menu button on the top right on the homescreen.

STEP 2. Click ‘Reservations’ from the menu.

STEP 3A. TO CHANGE YOUR LICENSE PLATE: Review/Select ‘Active’ from the reservation options. Click the arrows button to change your license plate.

Next, add your new/rental license plate number to the field ‘Enter License Plate’ and click ‘Add’. Once added, the reservation has been updated.

 

IMPORTANT: Please ensure your license plate is correct by 8am of your reservation date to avoid a parking violation.

STEP 3B. TO CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION: Review/Select ‘Active’ from the reservation options. Click the information icon to open the reservation details.

Next, click 'Cancel Reservation'.

 

IMPORTANT: Once a reservation is canceled, it cannot be undone.

MANAGE YOUR ACCOUNT

Visit Alta Parking Reserve 'N Ski and click the menu button in the top right corner on the Home screen.  From the open menu, select from the following options:

  • Home - Directs back to Alta Parking Reserve ‘N Ski homepage.

  • Rates - Directs to AltaParking.com for more information.

  • Help - Provides contact information for Alta Parking Ambassadors as part of our Customer Care Team.

  • Policy - Reviews Alta Parking policies.

  • Language - Change Alta Parking Reserve ‘N Ski language.

  • Account - Update your personal info, vehicles, saved payment methods, and update your password.

  • Vehicles - Update your account vehicles.

  • Reservations - Review your reservations - active, past, and canceled. Update your license plate or cancel active (upcoming) reservations.

  • Keys & Membership - Add and review special access keys.
